Who are the Parrot Heads?
The Parrot Heads of the Prairie, Inc. is a chapter of the Parrot Heads in Paradise, the national Jimmy Buffett Fan Club. Parrot Heads of the Prairie, Inc. is a not for profit organization dedicated to preserving and improving the environment and to being active in community oriented projects as a means of social interaction with like-minded people interested in the lifestyle, tropical spirit, and music of Jimmy Buffett.
We have also established Parrot Heads of the Prairie Make a Difference, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit entity for the purpose of raising funds to support local and area charities.
Since our inception in March 2005, our Sioux Falls club has raised and donated $474,923 as well as logging 6,639 hours of community service! Totals through January 1, 2023.
Organizations we have served include:
Children’s Care Hospital and School, Junior Sioux Wheelers, Sidewalk Arts Festival, Heartland House, Children’s Inn, Sioux Falls Community Food Bank, Special Olympics, U.S. Military Personnel, National Kidney Foundation, Miracle League of Sioux Falls, Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society, South Dakota Alzheimer’s Association, Feeding South Dakota Back Pack Program, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Sammie’s Daycare, Camp Gilbert, Buddy Walk, Ronald McDonald House, Dakota Dachshund Rescue, Camp M.A.S. H. (Make Arthritis Stop Hurting), Project Warm-Up, HorsePower, The Glory House, Camp New Hope, Spirit Camp, The Compass Center, Sioux Falls Marathon, The Giving Tree, Almost Home Rescue, Teddy Bear Den, River CleanUp, Foster Home Network.
